A laser light we purchased off of DHgate website. $18 not a bad price for this unit. It will definitely serve its purpose.

Spooky Door ! Cheap!

A great way to spook up your steel front door.

Grab a bag of plastic spiders from the dollar store and a pack of round magnets.

Hot glue the magnets to the bottom of the spiders and stick on your metal front door!

Dirt cheap !

Halloween Prop - Toxic Waste Barrel

I came across an old garbage can in the shed that was cracked and wanted to repurpose it for Halloween!

This is what I did:

I went out and bought a can of spray foam (The Great Stuff) for about $7.00 Canadian.
READ ALL DIRECTIONS ON THE SPRAY FOAM CAN!

First I gave the garbage can a light sanding with 80 Grit sandpaper so the paint would stick, then I sectioned it off into three sections - The top and bottom I painted black and the middle I painted white.

I let this dry and then I drew the "Radio Active" symbol on freehand (you can also print a stencil if you are more particular than I am)

I filled the symbol in with Fluorescent paint that was purchased from Michaels Art Store. It took a few coats to satisfy me. The writing was done with a sharpie paint pen or you can also use the same paint you used for the symbol or a yellow highlighter!

READ ALL DIRECTIONS ON THE SPRAY FOAM CAN!

I sprayed the foam on in a warm room (The garage was used for this as the foam is very sticky and messy, please make sure you wear gloves or you'll regret it!!!)

Once the can is open you have about 10-15 minutes of working time until the nozzle clogs up Spray the foam on how you see fit, remember this particular foam expands approximately 50%. This foam can be shaved/carved to suit you.

I painted the foam with green, yellow and orange fluorescent paint. I also added some Shadows with dark green and black acrylic paint.

This will be placed near a fog machine in our haunt to give it a creepy effect!

Halloween Prop - Spider Web Sconce

I found these sweet little, pink-with-gold-trim wooden sconces at a garage sale.  I was looking for sconces, so when I found them I was excited and yelled "These are perfect!" I got a weird look from the lady beside me.

I painted the sconces white with black trim and painted on some spooky spider webs. I wanted them to look good in a black light so I added hot glue to look like wax. (The glue glows in a black light). Finally I traced beside the webs with a highlighter.

Halloween Prop / Costume - Freddy Glove

Last Halloween I wanted to be Freddy Krueger but I didn't want to use the cheap, plastic Dollar Store glove. After searching online I found that purchasing a replica glove would just eat away at our Halloween budget. I called my cousin who runs a sheet metal shop and he had lots of scraps in stock, so I went up and helped myself to some! (a lot.. as I know I'd need extra!!)
I'm far from a sheet metal worker/welder so it was a learning curve for me! here's the end result!

The first thing I did was make a pattern out of paper (if you Google Freddy Krueger Glove Pattern you'll be sure to find what you need)

I traced the pattern onto my flat sheet metal and cut it out with a heavy duty set of tin snips! I purchased a set of gloves from a hardware store and used one (not sure what I'll do with my odd glove!)

I shaped the knuckles around a broom stick to get a "rounded" shape.

You'll notice I drilled holes in the "plate" and the ends of the "knuckles" so I could attached them together at a later date.

After I completed this, I needed my blades. I didn't want anything sharp or dangerous as alcohol and blades seem like a bad combination. I went to the dollar store and purchased some cheap butter knives and had them welded onto the finger tips.

After I had all the parts and pieces I needed I attached them together with a rivet gun. I didn't clamp the rivet all the way down as there would be limited mobility with the glove. You can also attach the parts with wire or anything else you may have around. (Get creative!)

Once all the parts were attached it was time to adhere the metal to the leather glove! This was also done with a rivet gun.

Fall Treat - Pumpkin Pie Coffee

I found this coffee at Winner's and couldn't resist! I love pumpkin flavour. Not exactly a Pumpkin Spice Latte, but close enough for at home.
Please note that this is the first time I've used a filter on an image! I'm a professional photographer and usually use my Canon but I used my phone to take this one.

Halloween Prop - Spooky "silver" Box

We wanted a prop to put on a side table along with some other small items. We got a plain wooden box from the Dollar Store, similar to this one.

We like shiny things so we decided to make the box look like it's silver.  To make it more interesting we cut out pieces of thin cardboard from a cracker box to make the edging and details and used hot glue to adhere them. Next, acrylic modeling paste was painted on to give texture to the smooth wood. The whole thing was painted light grey and then silver using acrylic craft paint.
After the silver was dry, black paint was dry-brushed into the edges of the cardboard to make it look like a tarnished silver box. The centre cardboard piece was painted red to look like a ruby. Later we may add a plastic ruby or jewel if we find one that would look like a good fit.

This Halloween we will have a lot of black lights so we added blue fluorescent paint to the raised cardboard. The blue is not visible unless under black light. We used neon tempura paint from Michaels.
